Milestones reads your logbook and measures it against the experience requirements for each
certificate and rating, so you always know what is left.
How it works
Nothing is entered twice. Every flight you log flows into the milestone counters — cross-country
hours, solo hours, night landings, instrument approaches, dual received, and the specific
long-cross-country and dual-night items each certificate calls for. Your baseline totals count too.
Free and premium
Milestone tracking against the regulatory minimums is free for Private, Commercial and IFR —
progress measured straight from your own logbook entries.
Premium turns Milestones into a shared record between you and your instructor. It adds:
- per-criterion grading by your CFI, with a reusable comment library
- instructor comments on individual milestone items
- readiness and safety flags
- signed stage records and instructor sign-offs
- a printable lesson plan tailored to your performance and aircraft
Premium is a one-time purchase — $39.99 for Private, $49.99 for Commercial, or $79.99 for both. See
Buying Premium Features.
Where grading is entered
Grading happens on the instructor side, not yours. Your CFI opens their Instructor Workspace, picks
you from the pilots who selected them, and works through the milestone criteria. Items awaiting them
show an Awaiting instructor badge on your page, and their assessments appear in the Instructor
tab as soon as they save. If you have premium but no instructor selected yet, the Instructor tab will
stay empty.
A caution
Milestones is a progress tracker, not an eligibility ruling. Meeting the hour counts is necessary,
not sufficient — your instructor and the examiner decide when you are ready, and the FARs govern.
