Getting started — choosing your account type
Sign-up starts with one question: what do you want to do here? There are five choices.
Pilot
The full logbook. Flights, totals, charts, airports, aircraft, the Pilot Vault, Milestones, IFR Insights and Go/No-Go. Everything a pilot needs whether you rent, own, fly with an instructor, or none of the above. Most people want this.
Instructor
One instructor record per person, used for both kinds of instruction:
- Flight instructor (CFI) — confirm student flights, post dual given, write endorsements and flight reviews.
- Ground instructor (CGI) — run ground school courses and post class sessions to students' logbooks.
Your certificate ratings decide the label you carry — CFI, Ground Instructor (CGI), or CFI / CGI. A ground-only instructor is never shown as a CFI.
Instructor accounts are reviewed before the workspace opens. If you teach at a school, name the school during sign-up — the school also confirms you. The school must already be registered with Log Scan Pro before you can connect to it.
Organization
Flight schools and FBOs. An organization owns the instructor directory, the aircraft records, the schedule and the ground school course catalog for its location.
Insurer
Insurance companies and their representatives, who order authorized reports on pilots and aircraft.
Go/No-Go only
Just the preflight risk report, without keeping a logbook here. You can add the logbook later.
Already have a record someone created for you?
If a school entered you into its instructor directory before you signed up, don't create a second record. Sign up as an instructor and use Find my instructor record to claim the one the school already built — the school's history stays attached to it. See Claiming an instructor record.
One person, more than one role
Roles stack on one login. A CFI who also flies for fun keeps a personal pilot logbook; a school manager can also be an instructor. You switch between them from the header, not by creating another account.
