Phase 2 — Solo authorization gate
Solo is a gate, not a milestone you drift through. Everything below has to be in place first.
Required before solo
- A pre-solo knowledge test given and reviewed by your instructor
- The pre-solo flight training maneuvers demonstrated to your instructor's satisfaction
- A student pilot certificate and current medical, both in your Vault
- A solo endorsement written by your instructor for the make and model you will fly, and for the airport
How it appears here
The endorsement lands in your Vault with the instructor's name, certificate number and signature attached. Milestones shows the gate as met once the endorsement exists and the maneuver items are signed.
Your first solo flights
Solo time logs in the solo column, not PIC and not dual received. Log Scan Pro checks that a solo flight has no instructor time on the same row.
Ninety days
A solo endorsement has a life. Your instructor renews it as your training continues, and the Vault shows you the date it stops counting.
