What the balloon report adds
Balloon Winds & Trajectory
- Launch and landing wind against your limit.
- Steering layers — heights where the wind turns, so you can steer by climbing or descending.
- An estimated drift track for your duration and cruise band.
- When heating and gusts begin, convection risk and dawn fog.
- An oxygen reminder above 12,500 ft MSL.
The drift track is an estimate — use it to plan the launch and the chase, not to navigate.
Target landing area
Star a landing area and the report simulates hundreds of drift tracks: the chance of landing within 1, 2 and 5 NM, the best launch time and layer, and the likely landing zones.
Chase crew card
With a standby spot, the card gives distance and direction to the landing zone, radio line of sight, and any open water or high ground in between.
