Specialty briefings
All briefings use the same request form and the same analysis. A specialty adds the questions and report panels that matter for that kind of flying and hides the ones that don't. Pick a card on Go/No-Go Home, or just enter your tail number — the FAA registry tells us what the aircraft is and opens the right form.
In this section
- Helicopter and offshore — request form, remote sites and offshore platforms, EMS and medevac, what the report adds
- Seaplane and amphibian — water landings and remote water sites
- Glider — launch sites, soaring window and landouts
- Balloon — drift, target landing area and chase crew
- Fixed-wing air ambulance — alternates, contamination and mission pressure
Common to every specialty
- Help tips. Specialty terms on the form have a small i button that explains them. The specialty boxes fold with the arrow in their header and remember whether you left them open.
- VFR weather check. If you plan VFR and the departure or destination reports marginal VFR or worse, a check appears before the report runs. Switch to IFR (airplanes and helicopters only), go back and edit (nothing is charged), acknowledge and continue VFR (recorded in the report), or cancel. Missing weather never blocks a report.
- Gliders and balloons are always VFR.
Each specialty also has its own public page under Briefings on the Log Scan Pro website.
