The seaplane request form

Fields shared with airplanes are explained in Building the request.

Route — remote water sites

Departure or destination set to a Remote Water Site.
Landing on a lake or bay with no seaplane base? Choose Remote Water Site, name it, and paste coordinates or tap the spot on a satellite map. The nearest reporting airport supplies weather, notices and airspace; the water analysis uses your exact spot.

Seaplane Operation

The Seaplane Operation box.
  • Gear type — Straight floats (water only) or Amphibian. Amphibians get a gear callout for every leg.
  • Departure surface / Arrival surface — Water or Land runway for each end.
  • Open water upwind (NM) — roughly how far the wind blows across the water to your landing area. Used to estimate chop. Not sure is fine.
  • Your max wave height (inches) — your personal limit; 0 means calm water only, or No limit.
  • Your max wind on the water (kt) — your personal limit, gusts included, or No limit.
  • Water operation notes — docking, beaching or mooring plan, boat traffic, wires near the shore, shallow areas.
Set Flotation gear to Yes in the flight section if life vests are aboard — it is used for the egress brief.
