A helicopter briefing uses the same request and analysis as an airplane, and adds what matters when you fly low, land off airport and work over water:
  • one Purpose & mission list that fills in sensible defaults;
  • an Operation Profile for how you fly — airport to airport, local, low-level route or area work;
  • remote sites and offshore platforms in place of an airport at either end;
  • tower and obstacle maps at departure and arrival in place of long lists;
  • EMS scene, medevac, night fatigue and escape checks.
Experienced crews get crisp, short call-outs — the report doesn't repeat what every helicopter pilot already knows.
