Ground schools & ground instructors

Your classroom, on the student's record

Every class you post writes the ground time to each attending student's logbook and marks off the subjects covered on their Milestones track — badged with your school's name. For independent ground schools, ground instructors, and flight schools that run classroom courses.

How it works

  1. Register your school or instructor record

Schools register as an organization; independent ground instructors create their own instructor record. Ground-only instructors are labeled Ground Instructor, never CFI.

  2. Students connect to you

Pilots start a connection and you approve it. Records stay owned by the pilot — you see the relationship, not a copy.

  3. Publish a course

Title, track (Private, Instrument or Commercial), start date, meeting times, location and your own tuition. School courses are open to your connected pilots; an instructor's course to that instructor's students.

  4. Approve enrollment

Students request a seat from Upcoming Courses and you approve. Their card changes to Enrolled.

  5. Post each class — credit goes out

Record the date, ground time, attendance and subjects covered. One action writes the logbook entry and subject credit for every attendee. Posted in error? Reversing removes exactly what that class created.

What you get

Three ground tracks

Private (17 subjects), Instrument (10) and Commercial (10) — each subject shows Reported by your ground school or Not yet reported.

Free tracking for everyone

Courses, attendance, ground time and subject credit cost nothing — not for the school, not for the student.

Provider-reported only

There is no self-study mode. A subject is credited only by a connected school or instructor, which is what makes the record worth something to an examiner or employer.

Documents in the Vault

Some subjects are satisfied by a document the student uploads to their Pilot Vault, kept with their other records.

Course-scoped visibility

Students see the courses offered by the schools and instructors they're connected to — nothing else.

Ground and dual-rated instructors

One roster for ground-only and flight-and-ground instructors, each keeping one record across every school they teach at.

Ground School Premium — optional

On top of the free tracks, a student can add Premium: your instructor's grading on each subject, written comments, a signed knowledge-test readiness record, and printable reports.

When a student connected to your school buys Premium, your school earns a flat 30% commission, credited to the school that brought them in. Training premiums carry a 10-day money-back guarantee; a refunded purchase reverses its commission.

  • Ground School — Private Premium$39.99 one time
  • Ground School — Instrument Premium$69.99 one time
  • Ground School — Commercial Premium$49.99 one time
  • Ground School Premium Bundle (all three)$139.99 one time

Next to Milestones and IFR Insights

Your ground credit sits beside the student's flight progress — the Private, Instrument and Commercial Milestones and, for instrument students, IFR Insights. One record shows the whole path to the checkride, classroom and cockpit together.
