Each approach row uses drop-downs rather than free text, so the data stays countable.
- Type of approach — ILS, LOC, LOC-BC, VOR, VOR/DME, NDB, RNAV (GPS) LPV / LNAV / LNAV+V, RNP, GLS, PAR, ASR, visual or contact.
- Airport and runway — where it was flown.
- Conditions — actual instrument, simulated (hood or view-limiting device), or in a training device; day or night.
- Outcome — completed to minimums, missed approach flown, circled, or discontinued.
- Hold — whether holding was flown, since holding is tracked separately for currency.
Instructor comments
Comments come in two forms: a curated list of common evaluation items (for example, localizer
tracking, glideslope control, altitude at the fix, missed-approach execution, checklist discipline),
plus a free-text box for anything specific to that approach.
Curated items are the ones that can be summarized across a whole training record. Free text is where
the instruction actually happens.
